Lincoln

Consumer Reports is out with its list of 2021’s top 10 least reliable automobile brands. The magazine surveyed over 300,000 car owners to create its rankings, taking into consideration defects occurring within the last 12 months.

This year’s worst honor goes to Ford’s luxury brand Lincoln with a reliability score of just 8, followed by the electric vehicle innovator Tesla, whose Models S, X & Y suffered from major assembly issues. Tesla’s low reliability score is not much of a shock to those in the industry, as Tesla’s vehicles are notorious for poor build quality issues.

Other noticeable “winners’ include Mini, Ford, Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, and Jeep – particularly Wrangler, Cherokee and Renegade models. Volvo also made the list due to the problems with both the XC90 and XC60 model. Chevrolet ranked surprisingly low considering the transmission and brake system issues plaguing its Silverado, Sierra, and Colorado pickup trucks.

1. Lincoln (8)
2. Tesla (29)
3. Volkswagen (36)
4. Mini (37)
5. Ford (38)
6. Cadillac (38)
7. Mercedes-Benz (40)
8. Jeep (41)
9. Volvo (41)
10. Chevrolet (42)
