Nissan consumers are left dealing with defective braking systems in some 2017 to 2019 model year Nissan vehicles, and Nissan is defending a class action lawsuit alleging these brake system defects are widespread and dangerous. At the heart of the problem is Nissan’s Forward Emergency Braking or Automatic Emergency Braking Technology. The Nissan braking system uses radar technology to detect the possibility of collision with vehicles or pedestrians and is designed to stop the vehicle in emergency situations where the driver fails to apply the brakes. The problem is that the brake system does not work and often stops or slows the progress of the vehicle when no threat is detected, resulting in an unsafe and dangerous driving condition that ironically is more likely to cause an accident than prevent one. Similar braking systems are installed in many cars nowadays and these new technologies have so many bugs that they often cause more accidents than they prevent.
