Land Rover is recalling over 30,000 2018 – 2020 Discovery models over a latch issue causing rear doors to open while driving.
According to the manufacturer, a faulty latch sealant might cause water to leak in and corrode the latch mechanism, which in turn might lead to the rear doors randomly opening while on the road. In addition, the open warning light might also malfunction.
Land Rover will send letters to affected Discovery owners on July 28th, 2023. In the meantime, you can check the NHTSA website with your Vehicle Identification Number, or contact Land Rover directly, to find out if your Discovery is included in this recall. To fix this issue, you will need to bring it to an authorized Land Rover dealer to have the UniLatch Keyless Vehicle door latch system disabled.
