By now many people have heard the terrible news about Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin dying after being pinned by his Jeep at his home in Los Angeles. The model was a 2015 Jeep Grand Cheerokee which was the subject of a recall because drivers could be misled by the gear shifters, thinking the vehicle was in park when in fact it was not.
While it is far too early to tell if there is any connection between the tragic accident and the recall, it reinforces the importance of taking recalls seriously, and is a reminder that if you receive a recall notice you should take your car in to a dealer for repair immediately, especially because those repairs are free.
