If you purchased or leased a 2018 – 2020 Jeep Wrangler or 2020 Jeep Gladiator and have experienced multiple repairs for steering wheel and front suspension shake issues, it is important to opt out of the Reynolds et al. v. FCA US LLC (“FCA”) class action before March 10, 2023, otherwise you will not be able to bring an individual lemon law claim for these issues. The class action alleges that FCA sold Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles with a defect causing the front suspension and steering wheel to shake after hitting a bump while driving at high speed.
FCA denies the Class Vehicles are defective and the Court hasn’t approved the final settlement yet, but if you do not opt out by March 10, 2023 you are bound by the terms of the settlement. The settlement is no doubt a rotten deal for individual consumers. If you wish to remain part of the class action settlement, which delivers far fewer remedies than a lemon law buyback or repurchase, you don’t need to do anything, and you might eventually be reimbursed for steering and suspension repairs if you submit a reimbursement claim on time.
However, remaining in the class action means you will waive your lemon law rights, and lemon law claims typically provide better results than class action settlements like this one, including vehicle buybacks, additional monetary compensation, and other damages. If you do not opt out by March 10, 2023, you will not be able to bring any future lemon law claims related to 2018 – 2020 Jeep Wrangler and 2020 Jeep Gladiator models with suspension steering damper defects.
If you own a 2018 – 2020 Jeep Wrangler or 2020 Jeep Gladiator in California and are experiencing suspension, steering, or any other issues that haven’t been fixed in a reasonable number of attempts while under warranty, Lemon Law Aid could potentially get your van replaced or repurchased.
