Jeep is recalling 81,165 2014 Cherokee models due to a software malfunction which causes the vehicle to unintentionally shift into neutral. The issue affects 3.2 liter V6 models built between February 2013 and July 2014.
While no related crash or injury data has been reported so far, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stresses that this problem should be taken seriously as the sudden loss of power could result in serious injury or death caused by accidents on the road.
FCA US LLC will contact Cherokee owners by mail and will invite them to come to a dealership to update the software. Recall information for selected vehicles is available on the NHTSA website by entering VIN number.
If you own a Jeep Cherokee vehicle and are experiencing issues that haven’t been fixed in a reasonable number of attempts while under warranty, Lemon Law Aid can help you file a lemon claim to get it replaced or repurchased.
