General Motors Company is recalling over 460,000 Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC models because their rear wheels might lock up while on the road and cause accidents.
The models affected by this recall include the following SUVs and pickup trucks:
• 2021 Cadillac Escalade and ESV SUVs
• 2020-2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500
• 2021 Chevrolet Suburban SUVs
• 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs
• 2020-2022 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500
• 2021 GMC Yukon and XL SUVs
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, so far, there have been reports of 1,888 incidents involving wheels locking up, 11 related accidents and 3 injuries.
The issue comes from a faulty automatic transmission that could wear out early. To detect the issue, GM dealerships will install software, free of charge. GM will start notifying owners and leasers of these vehicles (recall # 24V797). You can also call Cadillac, Chevy or GMC customer service and check the NHTSA website with your VIN number to find out if there are any pending recalls.
