General Motors is recalling 464,000 vehicles over defective electronic brake control module (EBCM) software. The recall is affecting 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 and 2019 Cadillac CT6 models.
The EBCM software issue might disable the electronic stability control and anti-lock braking system which might result in the vehicle’s ESC and ABS malfunction warning lights to not illuminate. Because ESC and ABS are essential to the trucks’ and sedans’ stability, especially in slippery conditions, this problem increases the risk of a crash. The defect also has been known to lead to premature brake wear, the illumination of the check engine light, and requires increased brake pedal effort.
This safety defect poses serious safety concerns and if your Silverado, Sierra, or Cadillac CT6 has experienced check engine light, brake system, or premature brake wear, make sure you take your vehicle in for servicing to an authorized dealership as soon as possible.
If you own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra or Cadillac CT6 vehicle and are experiencing issues that have not been fixed in a reasonable number of attempts while under warranty, Lemon Law Aid can help you file a lemon claim to get it replaced or repurchased.
