Volkswagen Group is recalling over 74,000 VW and Audi SUV’s to address faulty engine components that could cause engine failure and increase the risk of accident.

Vehicles affected by this recall include 2021-2023 Audi Q5 and Q5 Sportback as well as 2022-2023 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport models.

Volkswagen estimates that up to 2% of the recalled SUV’s might come with defective connecting rods creating debris in the engine oil circuit which may cause the engine to stall, leak oil, and even catch on fire.

Audi Q5 and VW Atlas owners experiencing excessive engine noise and engine warning lights are urged to stop driving their vehicles and have their vehicles serviced. Because this issue affects models that are still under warranty, Volkswagen Group will replace defective engines at no cost.

Audi Q5 and VW Atlas owners will start receiving notices by mail in December and, in the meantime, can check the NHTSA website with their VIN number to find out if they are included in this recall.

If you own an Audi Q5 or Volkswagen Atlas and are experiencing engine issues that haven’t been fixed in a reasonable number of attempts while under warranty, Lemon Law Aid can help you file a lemon claim to get it replaced or repurchased.
