American Honda Motor Company, Inc. is facing a class action lawsuit over defects in the touchscreen consoles — or “infotainment” systems — in Honda’s 2019 and 2020 Acura RDX vehicles. These infotainment systems frequently malfunction, triggering the system to freeze or crash completely. GPS navigation, audio features and cellphone connectivity is often compromised, and safety-enhancing features such as the rearview camera don’t work. The Acura RDX vehicles, described as Acura’s first compact luxury crossover SUV, hit the market in 2018 and were supposed to launch with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard features, but the vehicles were only compatible with Apple CarPlay. Honda’s subsequent promises of a software update allowing for Android connectivity never materialized.
