Honda has been sued in a class action lawsuit filed in Alabama over a claim that Honda vehicles between 2013 and 2019 were manufactured with dangerous and defective fuel pumps. Although Honda is alleged to have known as early as 2016 that its fuel pumps were defective, Honda took ineffective action that misdiagnosed the problem and offered inadequate software upgrade repairs. According to the suit, the pumps have impellers made with defective plastic, causing them to warp while used under normal driving conditions. This defect not only renders the engine inoperable but can also cause damage to other parts of the engine.
California consumers who have bought or leased 2013 to 2019 Honda vehicles who have experienced fuel pump, engine or other defects are protected by California’s lemon law. If you own or lease a 2013 – 2019 Honda vehicle that has been serviced at a Honda dealer more than once for this or other issues, Honda may be obligated to repurchase that vehicle in compliance with California’s lemon law.
